William and Mary

Assistant Coach Ryan Murphy

- Ryan Murphy begins his first season with William and Mary this fall as the programís full-time assistant for middle-distance and distance events after an All-East career at George Mason.

Murphy, the brother of current Tribe senior Keely Murphy, began his collegiate career at the University of Virginia, where he ran both cross country and track for the Cavaliers. Graduating after just three years with a degree in English, he ranked among the top 15% of all third- and fourth-year students in 2007.

Murphy transferred to George Mason to complete his eligibility, ranking in the top-five cross country runners on the team in both 2007 and 2008. He earned All-East accolades in 2008 on the Patriotsí outdoor 4x800m relay team, helping produce the nationís 13th-fastest performance in 7:28.30. Twice scoring at the CAA Championships in the 1,500m run, Murphy qualified to the IC4A Championships both indoors and outdoors both of his years in Fairfax, and was a CAA Commissionerís Award recipient.

In addition to his 2007 undergraduate degree from Virginia, Murphy graduated from George Mason in 2009 with a Master of Arts degree in Literature.
