Tribe to Host North Carolina This Sunday at 2 p.m.
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William and Mary womenís gymnastics team will open its 2011 home slate when it hosts North Carolina at Kaplan Arena this Sunday at 2 p.m.
Sundayís meet will be the Tribeís second competition this season, as it opened the 2011 campaign with a fifth-place finish at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational hosted by George Washington two weeks ago. W&M posted a 190.275 at the Invite, which marked the teamís best-ever score at the competition. Among the highlights was the squadís performance on floor, as it posted the meetís top team score with a 48.675.
With an average team score of 190.275, the College currently ranks third in the USAG Collegiate Rankings, while its floor average of 48.675 ranks first.
Individually, a number of Tribe gymnasts also continue to remain highly ranked in the USAG Collegiate list. Senior Teenie Beck ranks first in all-around (38.650) and beam (9.825), while senior Dina McNaughton is tied for first on floor (9.850). Senior Karla Bercaw ranks second on beam (9.775), and junior Kristin Milardo is fifth on floor (9.775).
W&Mís other home meets this season will be against Towson (March 9) and Kentucky (March 11).
