Assistant Coach George Fisher

- George Fisher
Assistant Coach

George Fisher enters his second season on the Tribe staff in 2011 and will continue to serve as a second pitching coach for the College.

In 2010, Fisher was instrumental in helping the College post a team ERA of 4.87, the lowest since the 2004 season. The Tribe’s earned run average was the second best in the CAA and ranked 52nd nationally out of 292 teams. Sophomore hurler Matt Davenport was named First-Team All-CAA with the help of Fisher, while freshman John Farrell was named to the CAA All-Rookie team.

Prior to joining the William and Mary coaching staff, Fisher served as an assistant coach for Averett University for seven years, where he worked primarily with the pitching staff. Fisher also assisted with recruiting, running practices, and game day management. During Fisher’s stint with Averett, he helped coach six USA South All-Conference pitchers, two all-region selections, a conference pitcher of the year, a region pitcher of the year, and a MLB draft choice.

Fisher also served as the head coach of the Averett University junior varsity baseball team in 2008 and since 2004, was the assistant director in charge of running the baseball camps at Averett.

Fisher graduated from Averett in 2001 with a degree in physical education. As a student-athlete at Averett, Fisher was both a first team all conference and all-region selection as a pitcher in 2001 and also set the school record for career appearances with 53. After graduation, Fisher played for the Evansville Otters of the Independent Frontier League in 2002, making the mid-season all-star team.
