In the 3,000m, Liam Anastasia-Murphy (Gloucester, Mass.) led three Tribe harriers in the top five spots with his winning time of 8:27.48. The strong season-opening performance was only .28 seconds behind the IC4A qualifying standard. Peter Dorrell (Blacksburg, Va.) was third in 8:32.21, and John Muller (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) took fifth in 8:44.61.
The qualifying standard was even closer in the 5,000m, where Alex McGrath (Marlborough, N.H.) won the race in 14:47.46 and was just .06 seconds away from qualifying. Fifth-year veteran Ben Massam (Chatham, N.J.) was second in 15:01.88.
Senior Zach Jordan (Dublin, Ohio) was an IC4A-qualifier in the weight throw last winter, and appears to be well on his way to a repeat appearance after taking third today with a throw of 15.84 meters (51-11.75).
William and Mary is off for the next month to take final exams and enjoy the holidays, but will return to action on January 14th at the Georgetown Hoya Invitational.
