W&M Cross Country's Liam Anastasia-Murphy Named All-East at IC4A Championships
BRONX, N.Y. - The William and Mary men's cross country team ran its reserve runners at the IC4A Championships Saturday, and came away with one All-East accolade on a relatively quiet day in the Bronx. Duke's second squad won the team title convincingly, 44-141 over Duquesne, while Christian Gonzalez of Rider University was the individual medalist with a time of 24:52.7 on the eight-kilometer course.
The Tribe only had five runners step to the line, led by junior Liam Anastasia-Murphy (Gloucester, Mass.) who claimed All-East honors with his 20th-place finish. Anastasia-Murphy finished the race in 25:30.4, 17 seconds ahead of redshirt-freshman John Muller (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) who finished 33rd. Senior Brian Sklodowski (Newark, Del.) was 36th overall in 25:49.3, and Peter Dorrell (Blacksburg, Va.) ran a flat 26 minutes to finish 47th. John Pence (Columbus, Ind.) rounded out the team in 26:22.8.
William and Mary's top seven runners will compete Monday afternoon at the NCAA Championships. After two weeks off to recuperate and train, the College will break open the indoor track season at the CNU Lid Lifter on Saturday, December 4th.
