What's At Stake
The top two teams in the region earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships on November 22. After the 18 automatic bids are determined (nine regions), then the selection committee weighs every team in the nation and selects 13 on an at-large basis. Once all the teams are decided, then the top four individuals in each region not already going to nationals are given automatic bids, with another two selected at-large on a national basis.

Sprints to the Finish
- Freshman Elaina Balouris (Allison Park, Pa.) has been the Tribe's top runner in every race, including a third-place finish at the CAA Championships two weeks ago. If she can pull a top-25 finisher, Balouris would become the first Tribe freshman since Emily Halm '04 in 2000 to be named all-region.

- At the CAA Championships, Balouris led classmate Kathleen Lautzenheiser (Midlothian, Va.) and senior Betsy Graney (Harper Woods, Mich.) to spots on the all-conference team as the Tribe finished second for the first time since 2002.

- W&M has finished either first or second at the CAA Championships every year since 1996, and all but one year since 1986.

- The Tribe's team has been exceedingly young this fall, after having run six seniors and one junior at the regional last year. W&M has run as many as five true- and redshirt-freshmen this year, and will step to the line Saturday with three freshmen - Elaina Balouris, Kathleen Lautzenheiser, and Megan Fitzpatrick (Ashburn, Va.).

- W&M will be trying to set a program-record for best finish at a regional meet this weekend. Eight teams have finished fourth, including last year's team, with the 1980 squad posting a school-record score of 90 points.
