Tribe Menís Golf Places Ninth at ODU Intercollegiate
Powells Point, N.C. - The William and Mary Tribe menís golf team finished up the fall portion of the 2010-11 season on Tuesday, ending the ODU Intercollegiate in ninth place with a team total of 875 (+11). East Carolina won the tournament with a total of 827 (-37).
The Tribeís 54-hole team total of 875 (+11) ranks as the fourth-best three-round score in the history of William and Mary. The school record of 856 (-8) for best 54-hole score was set at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate in 2007.
It was a record-setting tournament for the Tribe at the ODU Intercollegiate this week. On Sunday, the Tribe set the William and Mary school record for lowest 18-hole score with their total of 280 (-8). The previous school record was 281 (-7), set at the Raines Development Intercollegiate in 2008. Then on Monday, the Tribe menís golf team totaled a 36-hole score of 570 (E), which is tied for the fifth-best 36-hole team score in William and Mary history.
Leading the way for the Tribe at the ODU Intercollegiate, just like he did for most of the fall season, was sophomore Jeremy Wells. Wells ended the tournament with a total of 214 (-2) to tie for 13th. Wells notched his third top-20 of the season by being consistent, carding rounds of 71-72-71.
Freshman Nick Schafer played well for the Tribe, placing in a tie for 46th with a score of 222 (+6), while senior Brandon Parker finished in a tie for 58th with a total of 225 (+9).
Rounding out the Tribeís effort at the ODU Intercollegiate were senior Zach Glassman and freshman Tanner Taddeo. Glassman ended the tournament in a tie for 63rd with a score of 226 (+10), while Taddeo finished one stroke back in a tie for 66th with a total of 227 (+11).
