Field Hockey Assistant Coach Wesley Drew

- Wesley Drew
B.S. Psychology, William and Mary 2010
B.S. Kinesiology, William and Mary 2010

Former Tribe standout Wesley Drew enters her first season on the sidelines after spending four years starring in the midfield at William and Mary. Drew will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the running a nationally competitive field hockey program, including developing practice plans, game-day coaching, and recruiting.

"Wes will make a seamless adjustment from player to coach this year," Hawthorne noted. "She was our 'on-field coach' the past two seasons as captain, and continued to work with the team last spring. Wes has the maturity, knowledge, and personal skills to make a great coach. She will be a very effective recruiter as well - she knows W&M inside and out!"

Drew finished her four years in uniform last fall with an invitation to the NFHCA North-South Senior All-Star Game, and repeat selections as a first-team All-CAA and all-state midfielder as well as her first all-region honor. She led the Tribe with five assists and added three goals, totaling 19 assists in her career to tie for third in school history.

Her junior year, Drew had an astonishing 10 assists, the third-most in school history, and was named to the CAA Championships all-tournament team as well as first-team all-conference and all-state. In 2006, she was an all-rookie selection in the CAA after scoring three goals and helping W&M to a pair of victories over nationally ranked foes, and 10 wins overall. Off the field, she was equally impressive, earning the CAA Commissioner's award each of her final three years.

A native of Virginia Beach, Drew came to the College from Frank W. Cox High School, and graduated this past May with dual degrees in psychology and kinesiology.
