Tribe Sends Eight to Evening Finals at CAA Championships

Fairfax, Va. - The William and Mary Tribe women’s swimming team had another solid performance on Saturday morning, sending eight athletes to the evening finals, including three to championship finals.

In the 100 free, the three-time defending champion in the event, Katie Radloff, was again the top qualifier for the event with a season-best time of 49.39. The College will also have two swimmers in the consolation finals of the event, with junior Emily Burns and senior Lindsay Guers qualifying for the race with times of 52.39 and 52.50, respectively.

In the 200 back, 2009 CAA Champion Hailey Hewitt will be in the championship final again this season, qualifying sixth in a time of 2:01.78. Classmate Molly Emery qualified for the consolation final, touching the wall in a time of 2:05.38.

In the 200 fly, the College will send two athletes in to the evening session. Senior Erin Welshofer made the championship final with a season-best time of 2:20.17, while freshman Kayla O’Malley qualified for the consolation final with a personal-best time of 2:03.79 that solidifies her place in third all-time at W&M.

In the 200 breast, freshman Emily Bart continued to swim well, qualifying for the consolation final with a time of 2:21.94.

The final championship session will get underway on Saturday night with the William and Mary Tribe women’s swimming and diving team looking to move up the leaderboard. The session begins at 6 p.m.
